This man is often at the Waterfront Metro station playing his accordion in the evening. For a hot second I actually believe I’m in Paris.
Today in Color: Brick Red
Today in Color: Beige is a color too
Waiting for the bus this morning outside the Native American Indian Museum I spotted this little vignette that reminded me of the sand dunes on the beach at home.
Today in Color: Another Bike in The Wall
Out for a walk through Old Town this afternoon with my family and saw this awesome sign for the VéloCity Bike Co-Op.
Today in Color: InstAmazing!
After a few months off I’m finally back on the wagon. Armed with my new favorite toy (cough*iPhone4s*cough) I can now post from anywhere in the world!
For this post I’m using the Instagram app to apply a filter to a photo I took at the Jefferson Memorial this past weekend. The weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful and I was surrounded by great friends to celebrate my birthday which made it even more amazing.
Enjoy!
Today in Color: Street Parking
Caught this sweet sight in Old Town this week. 10 gold stars if you can tell me what kind of car it is.
Aunt Ruthie’s take on Twitter
My great aunt Ruthie gives her take on what Twitter is. Priceless.
Today in [sound]: Sounds like Fall
Although the temperature isn’t supposed to drop until tomorrow, I proclaim that Fall is here simply because I stepped on too extremely crunchy leaves on my way home tonight. And in case you’re wondering, yes I did step out of my way to crunch them. Those two little leaves made my day. (note: this photo was taken last fall in DC. Can’t wait for the leaves to turn this year!)
Today in Color: City Sunset
I love the awesome colors as the sun sets over the city. This was taken from the 7th Street overpass in SW facing towards the river. We have to enjoy these while they last. Soon it will already be dark by the time most of us emerge from the metro after work.
Festival Season!
This weekend was jam-packed with festivals in DC. From the National Book Festival on the Mall to Barracks’ Row Fall Festival along 8th street in SE, there was lots to do this weekend in the city.
I focused my festival-going efforts on my new favorite spot in Barracks Row. It was great to see so many new artists and vendors out to break up the usual line-up found at nearby Eastern Market.
One highlight of the Fall Festival was a little adventure we were enticed to take down an alley to a great little studio nestled behind Matchbox restaurant. The Fridge provides an awesome exhibition space for artists and seeks to promote expression through art in the community. This weekend’s exhibit by local artist, Ben Tolman was pretty tight and served as a great way to introduce festival-goers to the space.
After this wonderful weekend of festival-ing (yes, that’s a word) I’ve set the bar high for the coming weekends this Fall. I don’t think I need to worry about running out of things to do though. That’s why I love this city!
